Back in 2001, the Kawasaki Z650RS made its debut and has not undergone any modifications since then. It did, however, get a special edition to celebrate its 50th anniversary last year. In a recent development, Kawasaki has revamped its 2024 bike lineup. This update also includes the contemporary retro Z650RS. The all-new iteration of the Z650RS, which was just unveiled by the Japanese bikemaker, maintains the classic design while receiving minor enhancements here and there. One of the most significant highlights of this latest update is the inclusion of a 3-level traction control system. For those unaware, several other 650cc bikes in the manufacturer's portfolio, such as the Versys 650 and the Ninja 650, were given the same feature as well. This has been done to comply with local safety standards in the US that require traction control on bikes. According to the firm, the addition of this new safety function will make the Z650RS a lot more safer and appealing to bike enthusiasts at the same time.

2024 Kawasaki Z650RS: Design Cues

The Z650RS is renowned for its retro-inspired appearance. Although the motorcycle takes several design influences from its elder sibling, the Z900RS, it nevertheless displays its sleek and sophisticated styling. In the Z650RS, a rather sporty engine and chassis package are surrounded by a round headlight with a contemporary LED unit, a single-piece seat, digital-analogue instruments, and quasi-spoke alloy wheels. All these elements contribute to lending this Kawasaki offering an appealing look. The new Z650RS additionally received a fresh Candy Medium Red colour scheme for the European markets, which looks very attractive. It is anticipated that the bikemaker will offer this paint job in our domestic market as well when the updated model arrives on Indian shores.

2024 Kawasaki Z650RS: Engine Specs

The 649cc parallel-twin engine powering the Kawasaki Z650RS is the same one found in the Versys 650, the Ninja 650, and many other models. This unit is coupled to a six-speed gearbox and churns out 67bhp of maximum power and 64Nm of peak torque. Notably, the rider can now utilise the power in far safer conditions thanks to the newly incorporated 3-level traction control system.

On the international scale, the Z650RS from the house of Kawasaki competes with the likes of the Yamaha XSR700, the Honda CB650R, as well as the Ducati Scrambler. In the Indian market, the bike goes up against the latter two models. The price of the current generation Z650RS in our country stands at Rs 6.92 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the 2024 model will likely come to India early next year. When the updated version goes on sale here, there can be a marginal price hike.
