KTM has pulled the covers off the new 2027 Freeride E, and the electric off-road machine now gets a proper round of upgrades to make it more capable on the trail. The latest version comes with a new electric motor, a bigger removable battery pack, revised chassis hardware, and updated electronics. KTM continues to position the Freeride E as a lightweight alternative to traditional petrol-powered dirt bikes, but this update makes it far more usable for serious off-road riding. With improved range potential, swappable battery tech, and upgraded suspension, the new Freeride E is aimed at riders who want electric performance without losing trail capability.

The biggest mechanical update is the newly developed electric motor, which produces 25.7bhp of peak power and more than 37Nm of torque. KTM says the bike can reach a top speed of 95km/h, while the motor has been made water-resistant to handle stream crossings and wet riding conditions without issue.
Power comes from a new 5.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is larger than before and now removable as well. Riders can swap the battery for a fresh unit when needed, making longer off-road sessions more practical. KTM says charging from a regular household socket takes around eight hours for a full charge.
The Freeride E now sits on a redesigned chrome-molybdenum steel frame paired with adjustable WP XACT suspension. It gets 43mm upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock, with 250mm of travel at the front and 240mm at the rear, giving it the hardware needed for rough trails and jumps.
Rounding off the package are Eco, Street, and Off-road ride modes, traction control, and a tilt sensor that cuts power if the bike tips over. The bike rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear aluminium wheels, uses Braketec disc brakes, and will enter production in Austria before reaching global dealerships in the first quarter of 2025.
