With an extremely customer-centric approach in its business ever since its debut, Ather Energy has really been garnering quite some interest. Taking the philosophy a step further, the Bengaluru-based start-up has now announced a buyback program for the 450X. Under this new initiative, Ather promises to buyback the 450X at Rs 85,000 at the end of three years if the customer so wishes.
Meanwhile, Ather Energy has also slashed the prices of the 450 Plus down to Rs 1.40 lakh – roughly Rs 10,000 cheaper than before. The 450X, on the other hand, continues to be priced at Rs 1.60 lakh. The EV start-up also revealed that it will open the window for a full payment for the 450X and 450 Plus on 31st October, with deliveries expected to commence around Diwali.
At the virtual press conferences the Bengaluru-based EV maker also announced a withdrawal of the Battery Subscription plan for the 450X that was announced earlier this year in January. The company does offer 4 independent subscription plans though – two with connected plans and two more covering service and maintenance. Meanwhile, charging at public charging points, Ather Grid, will be free until March 2021.
Speaking about the recent announcements, Tarun Mehta, Co-founder & CEO, Ather Energy said, “Our faith in our product line has allowed us to create innovative solutions to make the switch to electric, easier - whether it is purchase or ownership. We believe Ather Energy's electric scooters are going to have a fantastic value for years and will keep improving with new features which we will roll out as over the air upgrades. And to strengthen that assurance we are announcing a resale guarantee.”
As of now, Ather has presence in 10 major cities across the country. The company plans to expand to a total of 15-16 cities by the end of this fiscal. As part of the expansion plan, Ather will also setup 135-140 charging stations by the end of 31st March 2021.
