Ather revealed a new EL platform and a family scooter concept based on it at the annual Community Day 2025. The new architecture is a flexible and adaptable base born from data over 26 lakh kilometres of real-world use. It is built around a single-piece, all-steel unibody, which will simplify manufacturing, making assembly 15% faster and more cost-effective. The platform's modular design enables it to support a variety of scooter designs.
At the event, Ather gave a sneak peek at three possible scooters based on the EL platform. The first is a maxi-style scooter with 14-inch wheels and a 5kWh battery. The second is a sportier version featuring a 2kWh battery and 12-inch wheels. Meanwhile, the third model is a family-oriented scooter, offering enhanced suspension, a longer wheelbase, a wider seat, and the ability to integrate advanced rider assistance systems.

Another key benefit of the new EL platform is its impact on service and maintenance. The simplified design and durable components have helped to stretch the service intervals to 10,000 kilometres, significantly reducing the cost and frequency of maintenance for owners.

Other key highlights of the EL platform are the Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS), Modular Battery System (can accommodate a range of battery capacities, from 2kWh to 5kWh, and different battery chemistries like NMC and LFP), and the new Ather Charge Drive Controller (integrates the onboard charger and motor controller into one unit).

The EL platform gives Ather the flexibility to build a range of scooter models on a single base. The fundamental elements, including the electrical system, powertrain, and tubular steel chassis, remain the same, Ather can adjust battery size, suspension, among others, to meet the unique needs of different riders.
The EL01 concept was showcased as a tangible idea of the company's new EL platform. It highlighted several features that will debut on future models. While the EL01 itself may not go into production exactly as a concept, it serves as a preview of Ather's future lineup.
