Ather Energy 450X limited-edition scooter teased; pre-orders open

As per the Ather Energy website, the 450X will be officially revealed in a few weeks; final product specs & prices will be revealed at a later date.

Ather is all set to launch its next electric scooter in India, and based on the limited information available to us, the upcoming limited-edition 450X is going to be 'a step above the Ather 450'. In essence, the 450X will offer better & more intelligent features than the 450. Even its performance specs are likely to witness an upgrade. Being a limited-edition offering, Ather has already started taking pre-orders for the 450X. Ather has also sent across exclusive pre-order invites to its community (existing Ather e-scooter owners). For reference, the Ather 450 is powered by a 7.2bhp BLDC motor that puts out 20.5Nm of torque, courtesy of a 2.4kwh Li-ion battery pack that supports fast-charging.

As of now, Ather Energy only has two company-owned retail outlets, called Ather Space, in Bengaluru & Chennai. But, just a few days back, the company announced that it is now interested in growing its retail network and, therefore, is inviting dealer partners to set up dealerships in Tier-1 cities across India. In December 2019, Ather Energy also announced the establishment of its new 4,00,000 sq feet manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. While the new facility will be used for both scooter & battery manufacturing, Ather is yet to share its revised annual production capacity figures. But, they will certainly go up from the current 20,000 – 25,000 units per annum.
