BMW CE 02

The CE 02 electric scooter from BMW Motorrad will go on sale in India during the festive season. The upcoming model will be positioned below the recently released CE 04, which retails for an ex-showroom price of Rs 14.9 lakh. For those unaware, the CE 04 is made in Berlin and imported as a CBU into India, which accounts for its high retail price. This is not the case with the CE 02. The latter is built at TVS Motor Company's Hosur, Tamil Nadu plant and shipped worldwide. In the international market, the BMW CE 02 has a price tag of over Rs 6.30 lakh. The new model will be priced higher than the TVS X, which starts at Rs 2.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

BMW CE 02: Appearance

The CE 02 is intended to be a lightweight, extremely practical, and simple-to-ride electric scooter. The way it has been designed makes that extremely evident. The bike appears to have been designed with an electric motor and batteries in mind. This, in a sense, explains why there aren't any traditional body panels. The seat is shaped like a hoverboard, and there is an LED headlamp and taillight.

BMW CE 02: Battery and Range

An air-cooled synchronous motor powers the CE 02. Customers may opt for either a single or a twin battery setup, and it comes with a 2kWh lithium-ion battery. This equates to a 45 km range and a peak speed of 45km/h top speed, depending on the battery configuration decided on, or a 90 km range and 95km/h top speed.

BMW CE 02: Hardware and Features

The CE 02 uses an adjustable monoshock and a USD to suspend a double-loop steel frame. The 14-inch wheels of the scooter are equipped with tubeless tyres. A 220mm disc at the back and a 239mm disc at the front handle braking duties.

Features-wise, the bike has two ride modes: Flow and Surf. Additionally, there is an electric reverse gear. A small 3.5-inch TFT display with basic connectivity makes up the instrument cluster. Keyless entry, USB-C charging, and single-channel ABS are further comforts.

BMW CE 04: Key Details

The BMW CE 04 premium electric scooter is now available in India for Rs 14.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The maxi-style scooter features a liquid-cooled permanent magnet motor with 61Nm of peak torque and 41bhp of maximum power. It boasts a top speed of 120km/h and a 0-50km/h acceleration time of 2.6 seconds. The motor is driven by an 8.5kWh battery, which provides a driving range of 130 km on a single charge.

The EV boasts three riding modes (Road, Rain, and Eco), traction control, ABS, an electronic reverse function, and a Type-C charging outlet. Along with that, it features a 10.25-inch TFT colour screen with built-in navigation, connectivity, performance details, and charging time. BMW also offers a range of extras under the Comfort Package and Dynamic Package. The former boasts heated grips and a backrest comfort seat, and the latter provides sophisticated riding modes and adjustable headlights.
