BMW Motorrad has launched the M 1000 R in India at Rs 33.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Arriving in the country as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) following its global debut last year, this model represents the pinnacle of BMW’s naked bike lineup. Showcasing an exposed bridge-type frame, the bike’s overall layout is aggressive and minimalist. While BMW offers the M 1000 R with a single-seat configuration as standard, a pillion seat is available as an optional extra for those who need it.
Built around a bridge-type cast-aluminium frame, the BMW M 1000 R hardware includes a sophisticated electronically adjustable suspension system. The front end is supported by 45 mm inverted telescopic forks providing 119 mm of travel, while the rear utilises a twin-sided aluminium swingarm and a central shock with 117 mm of travel. To reduce unsprung weight and improve agility, the bike rides on premium 17-inch forged aluminium wheels.

BMW has fitted the M 1000 R with twin 320mm discs at the front, paired with four-piston fixed callipers bearing the M logo. The rear braking setup consists of a 220mm disc with a single-piston floating calliper. These mechanical components work in tandem with a digital engine management system and ride-by-wire technology. These advanced electronic systems are crucial for managing the bike’s power delivery and ensuring a precise throttle response for the rider.
