BMW R 1250 GS Ultimate Edition Breaks Cover Globally, Gets New Features & Equipment

BMW has taken the wraps off the R 1250 GS Ultimate Edition motorcycle. It will be available in select European markets, according to the company. This Edition will be limited to 2,100 units worldwide.

BMW R 1250 GS Ultimate

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the Ultimate Edition of the R 1250 GS adventure motorcycle for international markets. The Ultimate Edition is offered in a Triple Black paint job and houses new features & equipment. The production of the Ultimate Edition of the company's flagship adventure motorcycle will be limited to 2,100 units worldwide. A keyless ride system is a striking feature of this edition, which is a replacement for the traditional ignition lock system. The adventure bike sports a special 'Ultimate Edition' badging and features anodised aluminium trims on the handlebar, which comes as a part of an accessory package. In addition, the company is also providing different accessory packs for the Ultimate Edition, thereby enhancing the bike's visual appearance and offering some functional features. As per some industry reports, the motorcycle will be available in select European markets. As far as our market is concerned, there are no official details as regards to its launch.

BMW R 1250 GS Ultimate Edition: Design Details

The design of the BMW R 1250 GS Ultimate Edition is more or less similar to that of the standard model. It carries a 20-litre fuel tank, a wide LED headlamp with integrated DRLs, a wide handlebar, a split-type seat setup, an adjustable windscreen, black crash bars, and a titanium Akrapovic exhaust system. The bike rolls on wire-spoked wheels. 

BMW R 1250 GS Ultimate Edition: Features & Equipment

The Ultimate Edition is suspended with the help of 37mm upside-down forks at the front and a pre-load adjustable mono-shock at the rear. The braking prowess comes from dual discs at the front and a single disc at the rear. In terms of safety, the bike includes BMW's Integral ABS Pro, cornering ABS, automatic stability control, dynamic traction control, and 3 riding modes. In fact, the bike is also equipped with the BMW ShiftCam technology, engine protection bars, and auxilliary lights for optimum performance. Other notable features are a TFT colour display, a GPS mount, and BMW's keyless ride system.

To further enhance the riding experience, the BMW R 1250 GS Ultimate Edition gets different accessory packages. The dynamic package includes a semi-active suspension setup, a shift assist system, and pro riding modes. While the touring & comfort package comprises navigation tech, hand guards, pannier mounts, cruise control, heated grips, luggage mounts, keyless operations, a centre stand, and a range of luggage options to spec up the GS according to the buyers' needs and preferences.

BMW R 1250 GS Ultimate Edition: Powertrain & Gearbox

The new BMW R 1250 GS Ultimate Edition shares its mechanicals with the standard R 1250 GS model in terms of powertrain, which means that it is powered by a 1,254cc, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine that is good enough to produce 134bhp of maximum power at 7,750rpm and 143Nm of peak torque at 6,250rpm. This engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox and gets a bi-directional quick-shifter. For maximum safety, the bike is equipped with the latest ABS and traction control.
