BMW Motorrad raises bike prices in India by Rs 95,000–3.13 lakh due to GST 2.0, while the G 310 RR gets cheaper with a Rs 24,000 price cut.

BMW Motorrad has revised the prices of most of its premium motorcycles in India, effective from late September 2025. The increase ranges from Rs 95,000 to Rs 3.13 lakh, marking one of the most significant adjustments to the company’s Indian portfolio. The revision follows the government’s decision to reclassify motorcycles above 350cc as luxury goods, which pushed the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate from 31 per cent to 40 per cent. Combined with rising input costs, this has led BMW Motorrad to increase prices across its Sport, Adventure, Tour, and Heritage categories.

For BMW Motorrad buyers, this means larger-capacity BMW motorcycles will now carry significantly higher price tags, adding to overall ownership costs. Those who were considering stepping up to BMW’s premium offerings may need to rethink their budgets.
Some of the brand’s flagship machines are among the most affected. The supersport-focused S 1000 RR and its performance-oriented sibling, the M 1000 RR, have both witnessed steep increases. Adventure touring enthusiasts eyeing the R 1300 GS will also see higher on-road prices.

These motorcycles, central to BMW Motorrad’s global identity, now sit deeper in the luxury category, further widening the gap between mid-range and top-end models in India.
Interestingly, not all motorcycles in BMW’s range have become more expensive. The G 310 RR, powered by a sub-350cc engine, benefits from a reduced GST rate of 18 per cent. As a result, its price has come down by Rs 24,000, bringing it to around Rs 2.81 lakh. This shift makes the G 310 RR the most affordable motorcycle in BMW’s India line-up and an appealing entry point for first-time buyers considering the brand.

The government’s revised tax structure is aimed at boosting demand in the sub-350cc segment while levying a heavier tax on luxury-class motorcycles. This change has created a sharper divide in India’s two-wheeler market, where brands such as BMW are reassessing their strategy. Other premium manufacturers are also expected to follow suit with price revisions in the coming weeks.

BMW Motorrad has stated that it will continue to offer customers financing options and warranty support. However, those in the market for high-performance BMW motorcycles should now be prepared for a higher financial commitment due to the elevated GST rate and revised pricing.
