BSA Goldstar 650: Here’s What We Know So Far Ahead of the Launch in India

The BSA Gold Star 650, which has been on sale in overseas markets for some time now, will finally make its entry into India tomorrow. With Classic Legends as its owner, this will also mark the debut of BSA Motorcycles into our market. The new model retains the classic design elements of the original BSA Gold Star from the 1960s, which will appeal to die-hard BSA aficionados. It features a teardrop fuel tank, wire-spoke wheels, a circular headlight with a daytime running light (DRL), and round analog dials with upside-down readings. 

The bike's classic appearance is further enhanced by the distinctive exhaust, false cooling fins, and vintage crankcase. In terms of features, the BSA Gold Star 650 includes a twin-pod instrument cluster, a single-piece seat, an engine immobiliser, and a USB charging port. BSA Gold Star 650: Engine

The BSA Gold Star 650 is driven by a 652cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC 4-valve engine that produces 45bhp at 6,000rpm and 55Nm of peak torque at 4,000rpm. It has a 5-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch. 

BSA Gold Star 650: Hardware

The Gold Star has a cradle frame that is supported by a 41mm telescopic at the front and twin shock absorbers with a 5-step preload adjustment at the rear. It is equipped with a 320mm front disc and a 255mm rear disc, with dual-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system) as standard. The bike rolls on 18-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels, shod in Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres.

BSA Gold Star 650: Expected Price and Market Rivals

The upcoming bike is expected to have a starting price of Rs 2.70 lakh in India (ex-showroom). It will compete with the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, which starts at Rs 3.03 lakh (ex-showroom).
