Ducati has launched the DesertX Discovery in India with an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 21.78 lakh. With this travel-oriented variant, the Italian marque further expands its lineup of adventure motorcycles. Sitting between the standard and rally versions, the DesertX Discovery blends high-performance capability with advanced technology. It boasts a fully adjustable suspension system, a suite of cutting-edge rider aids, and a powerful 937cc Testastretta V-twin engine. Additionally, featuring an 875mm seat height, a remarkable 350mm ground clearance, and a spacious 21-litre fuel tank, this model is designed for endurance-focused adventure riding across rugged terrains. For the uninitiated, Ducati previously opened official bookings at its authorised dealerships, with deliveries expected to roll out soon.

Ducati DesertX Discovery: Styling Cues

Appearance-wise, the DesertX Discovery sets itself apart with an exclusive and striking paint job. It sports a dynamic mix of Ducati Red and Thrilling Black, accented with crisp white highlights. Engineered for rugged exploration, the bike comes fitted with protective bull bars for the fuel tank and water pump, an extended touring windscreen, a reinforced belly plate, a radiator guard, hard-case panniers, an engine bash plate, and a centre stand.

Additional premium design elements include heated grips, durable aluminium luggage cases, and a strengthened subframe.

Ducati DesertX Discovery: Engine and Hardware Setup

On the performance front, the bike is powered by a 937cc liquid-cooled Testastretta V-twin engine, delivering an impressive 108bhp of maximum power at 9,250rpm and 92Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. Power is seamlessly transmitted to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox, equipped with an up-and-down quick-shifter for effortless and precise gear shifts.


Desert X Discovery


According to Ducati, the DesertX Discovery is engineered for superior handling, featuring a fully adjustable Kayaba suspension system that allows fine-tuning of preload, rebound, and compression. It boasts a 230mm travel inverted fork at the front and a 220mm travel monoshock at the rear, ensuring excellent off-road capability. Rolling on a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheel setup, the bike is fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres for enhanced grip across varied terrains. Braking duties are managed by dual 320mm front discs with Brembo M50 monobloc callipers, while the rear relies on a 265mm disc with two-piston callipers for controlled stopping power.

Ducati DesertX Discovery: Features and Rider Aids

When it comes to technology and features, the DesertX Discovery is equipped with full-LED lighting and dual five-inch TFT-LCD displays, providing turn-by-turn navigation and seamless smartphone connectivity. The Italian bikemaker offers complimentary navigation access for the first five years, after which users will need to subscribe for continued service.

Designed for touring comfort and versatility, this adventure bike includes three dedicated riding modes for road use and two tailored for off-road conditions. Additionally, it comes packed with advanced rider aids such as heated grips, multiple power modes, traction control, engine brake control, wheelie control, cornering ABS, and cruise control, ensuring a well-rounded and adaptable riding experience.
