Ducati has launched the Desmo450 MX in India at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 17.24 lakh. Bookings are currently open, while deliveries are slated to commence by the end of this month. The motorcycle will be sold through four select Ducati dealerships in New Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Pune. The Desmo450 MX, as the brand’s first-ever motocross, made its global debut on international shores last year in April. For a first in the segment, the Ducati Desmo450 MX comes with a traction control system and a Desmodromic valve system. In the 450cc class, Ducati's inaugural motocross will compete against bikes such as the Kawasaki KX450.
Speaking on the occasion, Bipul Chandra, Managing Director at Ducati India, said, ‘The arrival of the Desmo450 MX is a landmark moment for Ducati in India. We have seen a growing passion for off-road and motocross motorcycling in the country, and we are thrilled to enter this exciting segment with a product that is pure, state-of-the-art Ducati performance. The Desmo450 MX is a testament to our racing heritage and our commitment to providing Indian riders with the most advanced and capable Ducati motorcycles in the world. We are confident that this bike will not only speak to a new generation of motorcyclists but will also expand the Ducatisti community in India into newer territories of motocross adventure.’

The heart of the Ducati Desmo450 MX is a 449.6cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine and a desmodromic valve system (which is available on the production-spec motocross bike for the first time, and traditionally seen in MotoGP machines and the brand’s high-performance bikes).

The engine delivers 63bhp at 9,400rpm and 53.5Nm at 7,500rpm. According to Ducati, the 70% of peak torque is accessible from 4,200rpm, helping riders maintain precise throttle control through corners and jumps. The engine revs up to 11,900rpm.
The Desmo450 MX is underpinned by a lightweight aluminium perimeter frame made up of only 11 components. Weighing 8.96 kg, the chassis helps keep the bike’s wet weight (without fuel) at 104.8 kg. Ducati's first-ever motocross has a fully adjustable 49mm Showa front fork and a rear monoshock.
Stopping power comes from Brembo brakes, with a two-piston front calliper on a 260mm disc and a single-piston rear calliper on a 240mm disc. The bike rolls on 21-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels fitted with Pirelli Scorpion MX32 mid-soft tyres.
