The new Ducati Formula 73 cafe racer is now official, and this limited-run machine brings a race-linked name back into focus for enthusiasts. The company will build only 873 units for global markets, with each bike carrying a unique numbered plate. Ducati positions the Formula 73 as a heritage-led model that connects its vintage race machines with the modern air-cooled range. The motorcycle uses a known platform but arrives with a fresh identity tied to the brand’s 1970s racing programme.

With a strict production cap, the Formula 73 is set to draw significant attention from riders tracking limited edition Ducati motorcycle releases.
The Ducati Formula 73 design follows a traditional cafe racer layout with clip-on handlebars, a front fairing, and a single-seat tail section. This aesthetic references the legendary 750 Super Sport Desmo and the 750 Imola race bike, bridging the gap between historical success and modern road presence.

A steel trellis frame forms the base, ensuring the riding position keeps the rider low and forward in a sporty stance. The short tail, round headlamp, and compact tank keep the look close to past race-inspired road bikes while staying within Ducati’s current design approach.
In terms of technical specifications, the equipment list includes 17-inch spoked wheels, a single-seat setup, and premium billet aluminium parts across key sections. To enhance the acoustic and performance profile, Ducati fits a Termignoni exhaust system as standard.

The bike also carries a numbered steering plate and documentation tied to its specific production slot for collectors. Modern electronics include traction control, cornering ABS, and a quick-shift system, giving the Formula 73 a perfect mix of heritage layout and current Ducati safety technology.
Power for this new Ducati model comes from an 803cc air-cooled L-twin engine featuring desmodromic valve operation. Ducati rates the engine at 71bhp and 65Nm of torque, pairing it with a smooth six-speed gearbox. This powertrain supports the cafe racer format by providing a light and direct feel on the road, ideal for both urban riding and weekend escapes.

Ducati will launch the Formula 73 in selected markets, though final allocation numbers by region remain unconfirmed. With only 873 units planned, the cafe racer enters the line-up as a high-value numbered model tied to Ducati’s racing past and present road range.
