Honda Activa Electric

Honda is gearing up to enter India’s electric scooter market with its first offering, the Activa e. While the scooter has only been unveiled, it's expected to launch next year. Its standout feature is the convenient swappable battery system. Compared to its traditional ICE counterpart, the electric Activa boasts a simpler design. Upon its launch, it will compete directly with the Ather Rizta. If you're considering a family-friendly electric scooter, here's a quick comparison to help you decide.

Ather Rizta

Honda Activa e vs Ather Rizta: Design

The electric Activa e breaks away from the traditional design with a sleek, minimalist look. The front panel is dominated by a stylish LED headlight, flanked by turn indicators. For added safety, an LED DRL is also available.

The Ather Rizta adopts a utilitarian design approach, prioritising practicality and comfort. Its boxy proportions and extended seat length make it a suitable option for families. The addition of an LED headlamp and sleek taillight bar enhances visibility and adds a contemporary touch.

Honda Activa e vs Ather Rizta: Features

The Activa e and Rizta are both well-equipped machines in the electric scooter segment. The Activa e features a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity via the RoadSync Duo app. This infotainment system includes navigation support with automatic day and night mode adjustments, ensuring optimal visibility at all times. The scooter also offers keyless operation with the H-Smart key system and is available with all LED lighting. It has a range of attractive colour options: Pearl Serenity Blue, Pearl Shallow Blue, Pearl Misty White, Matt Foggy Silver Metallic, and Pearl Igneous Black. The Honda electric scooter is equipped with 12-inch alloy wheels. For braking, it has front disc brakes and rear drum brakes.

On the other hand, the Rizta gets a 7-inch display (TFT on higher-spec versions) with connectivity features and built-in navigation powered by Google Maps. It boasts a generous storage capacity with a 34-litre under-seat boot and a 22-litre frunk. The Ather scooter also rides on 12-inch alloy wheels and is available in different monotone and dual-tone hues.

Honda Activa e vs Ather Rizta: Powertrain

The Activa e has a direct drive PMSM motor that produces 8bhp of peak power and 22 Nm of maximum torque. It is equipped with two 1.5kWh battery packs, combining for a total capacity of 3kWh. With this, the e-scooter accelerates from 0 to 60km/h in just 7.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 80km/h. It promises an impressive range of 102 kilometres on a single charge. Additionally, the scooter features three distinct riding modes—Econ, Standard, and Sport.

In contrast, the Ather Rizta has two battery options: a 2.9kWh and a 3.7kWh. The 2.9kWh battery offers an IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range of 123 kilometres. The 3.7kWh battery, on the other hand, extends that to 159 kilometres on a single charge. However, in real-world conditions, the actual ranges are closer to 105 kilometres and 125 kilometres, respectively. Both battery options are IP67-certified and are paired with a mid-drive motor that generates 5.76bhp of power and 22Nm of peak torque. The Rizta has a claimed top speed of 80km/h, similar to that of the Activa e.

Honda Activa e vs Ather Rizta: Price

The Ather Rizta is available in two variants, S and Z. The S variant, which comes equipped with a 2.9kWh battery, costs Rs 1.12 lakh. The Z model, which can be purchased either with the 2.9kWh or the larger 3.7kWh battery, is priced between Rs 1.27 lakh to Rs 1.47 lakh. These are ex-showroom prices.
