Honda CB500X gets a price cut of Rs 1 lakh

Finally, Honda reduces the price of the CB500X, which makes the middle-weight capacity motorcycle more desirable. What’s next Honda? Are the CBR650R and CB650R in for a price revision too?

Honda Two Wheelers India has silently cut the price of the Honda CB500X middle-weight adventure motorcycle. The motorcycle now costs Rs 5.80 lakh (ex-showroom), which is Rs 1.07 lakh less than its introductory price. The CB500X was launched at Rs 6.87 lakh (ex-showroom), which was a steep price for a mid-capacity adventure motorcycle. Despite its impressive packaging, the Honda CB500X did not score well in terms of value for money. Now, the new pricing has changed our opinion, for the motorcycle now makes for a decent proposition against the Benelli TRK 502 and the Kawasaki Versys 650.

While Honda has not made an official statement for this price cut, we believe that the price has been reduced as a result of Honda locally producing its high-capacity engines. Following the news, we can speculate that the CB650R and the CBR650R could also see a price revision.

Other than the price reduction, the CB500X continues to be the same. The features on offer are the same as before, along with the mechanicals. The engine is a 471cc parallel-twin motor, which puts out 47bhp at 8,500rpm and 43.2Nm at 6,500rpm. The suspension and the braking hardware are the same as before as well.

Honda has updated the CB500X overseas, which features some changes over the India spec model; however, those updates are likely to make their way to the India-spec model sometime this year.
