Honda CBR650R E-Clutch Teased

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India will soon launch the new CBR650R E-Clutch variant, following the earlier release of the updated CBR650R and CB650R in January. A teaser shared on Honda’s social media confirms the model’s arrival, with a design closely matching the existing CBR650R. So far, Indian riders have only had access to the 6-speed manual version. The new E-Clutch technology, first unveiled in October 2023, combines features from quick-shifters, manual clutches, and Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). It adds just 2 kg to the bike’s weight and enables clutchless gear shifts while allowing manual clutch control, offering improved riding ease without sacrificing control.

What is Honda E-Clutch?

With the E-Clutch system, riders can shift gears up or down smoothly without using the clutch lever. The bike also allows hassle-free starts and stops. The system activates automatically when the engine is on and even helps avoid stalling. Riders can use the manual clutch lever when needed, and the system re-engages itself quickly after.

The Honda CBR650R E-Clutch offers three gear-shift modes: hard, medium, and soft. This lets riders select a shift feel that matches their style. The digital instrument panel also gives downshift advice when the gear is too high for the current speed. Real-time monitoring of throttle, gear position, engine RPM, and shift pedal pressure ensures accurate and responsive shifts.

The Honda CBR650R E-Clutch variant uses an actuator with two motors inside the engine casing. These motors manage clutch operation precisely. The system also adjusts ignition and fuel delivery for smoother gear transitions. With this new launch, Honda aims to introduce its latest global technology to Indian riders and boost the appeal of the CBR650R sports bike.
