HMSI has rolled out a new Shine 100 in India with the additional suffix 'DX'. The Shine 100 DX is positioned above the standard model in the lineup and has a few new features. While Honda has not revealed prices of the bike, bookings are slated to begin from August 1. The price will also be announced on the same date. Since the Shine 100 DX is touted as slightly more premium than the regular model, we can expect a little bump in its price. For comparison, the standard Shine 100 starts at Rs 68,862 (ex-showroom) in India.

While the silhouette is familiar, the Shine 100 DX boasts a premium vibe with several notable enhancements. It has a chrome-finished muffler cover, a sculpted 10-litre fuel tank adorned with the iconic Honda badge, and a touch of chrome on the headlamp.

The bike also features a blacked-out engine and grab rail, along with 17-inch tubeless tyres. As for the colours, the Shine 100 DX offers four options (Pearl Igneous Black, Imperial Red Metallic, Athletic Blue Metallic, and Geny Gray Metallic) to choose from.

The standard Shine 100, on the other hand, is available in red, green, blue, orange, and grey hues. These are paired with a contrasting black base.

Both the standard Shine 100 and the Shine 100 DX are well-equipped commuters. However, the DX variant steps things up with a few modern additions. These include a new LCD digital display that provides real-time mileage information and distance-to-empty readouts, and a side-stand engine cut-off. This function prevents the bike from starting while the side stand is engaged, thereby improving rider safety.
The Honda Shine 100 DX continues to use a 98.98cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 7.28bhp at 7,500rpm and a maximum torque of 8.04Nm at 5,000rpm. This setup is mated to a 4-speed gearbox. It has the diamond-type frame, suspended by telescopic front forks, and new 5-step adjustable twin rear shock absorbers.
