Kawasaki Versys X 300 Spotted Testing in India; Shows Single Pod Headlight, Long Tank Extensions, and More

Kawasaki has planned a slew of launches for this year and with this, the venerable Japanese motorbike manufacturer will soon be adding more models to its lineup in India. particularly in the sub-500cc class. Regarding that, we previously witnessed the Eliminator 400 from Kawasaki being launched in the country for an ex-showroom price of Rs 5.62 lakh. The company is now thinking of bringing its Ninja 300-based ADV back to the domestic market. Notably, India has a history with the Kawasaki Versys X 300, which was once available for purchase here. Many components of the model were shared with Ninja 300 as it was based on the popular Ninja series from the bikemaker. The Versys X 300 has been much anticipated by Kawasaki enthusiasts, and recent spy shots of the test mule have provided a sneak peek into what this upcoming model will have in store for the buyers.

The Kawasaki Versys X 300 is already available for purchase in the global market. The latest test bike is identical in design and construction to the model offered abroad. Spy shots reveal that the Kawasaki ADV comes with a sculpted tank, a single-pod headlight unit with a transparent visor, a long flyscreen, and crisp design lines with a half-fairing. The bike also has extended tank extensions that hide the radiator guard. This improves the model's appearance while also enhancing its functionality. It's a suitable choice for touring due to its rather upright riding position. Other components include a single seat, spoked wheels ( probably measuring 17 inches in the back and 19 inches in the front), and a tail rack to hold panniers and tail bags.

Kawasaki Versys X 300: Features and Hardware Setup

Regarding features, the Versys X 300 is probably going to have dual-channel ABS, a side-stand cut-off sensor, and bulb illumination throughout. The hardware setup consists of a monoshock at the back and telescopic front forks. Furthermore, the front and rear disc brakes on spoke wheels with tube tyres around them make up the braking system.

Kawasaki Versys X 300: Expected Price and Launch Timeline

Speaking of the expected price, the Kawasaki Versys X 300 will likely retail for between Rs 30,000 and Rs 40,000 more than the Rs 3.43 lakh (ex-showroom) pricing of the Kawasaki Ninja 300. In the US, it carries a price tag of Rs USD 6,199 (approx Rs 5.14 lakh, excluding taxes). The bike will probably make its way to the Indian shores by the end of the year. 

Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX, Versys 1000 Delisted in India

The Versys 1000 and the Ninja 1000SX will no longer be available in our market, as indicated by Kawasaki's recent delisting of the models from its Indian website. Even though there hasn't been a formal statement yet, several industry reports claim that this move makes way for the arrival of the updated versions of the mentioned models, which is anticipated to happen before the end of the year. It is important to note that the two bikes are still for sale, although just a few dealers currently have them in stock. 

2023 Kawasaki Versys 1000

The Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX's powerful 1,043cc air-cooled four-cylinder engine produced an impressive 140bhp of peak power and 111Nm of maximum torque. The sport-tourer had an aggressive 19-litre fuel tank and claimed 17 km/l. The power was transmitted via a six-speed manual transmission. The model's highlights comprised a full-colour TFT instrument panel, split-type seats, twin LED headlamps, an upright windscreen, an upswept exhaust, 17-inch designer wheels, and a sleek LED taillight.

Meanwhile, the 1,043cc inline four-cylinder engine of the Versys 1000 provided 118bhp of power along with a peak torque of 102Nm. Power transmission was handled by a six-speed gearbox with a slipper-and-assist clutch arrangement. A step-up seat design, a side-slung exhaust, an adjustable windscreen, a twin-pod headlight, a fairing with integrated cornering lights, and a rear luggage rack were among the design features of the 2023 Kawasaki Versys 1000.
