KTM's 650cc Duke Spotted Testing in Europe

KTM is reportedly readying an all-new naked motorcycle based on the 790 Duke platform. The spy shots of that motorcycle have emerged from Europe, giving us a glimpse of what KTM's new bike could look like.

For those who do not know, KTM does not currently retail any product between the 390 Duke and the 790 Duke. Therefore, the new bike – likely to come with a 650cc parallel-twin engine – is believed to fill that gap. Reports further suggest that the new 650cc bike will be locally manufactured in partnership with Bajaj Auto and rival the Triumph Trident 660, Kawasaki Z650, and Yamaha MT-07 in the mid-range segment. Speaking of which, the 650cc engine is expected to be nestled in a frame borrowed from the larger-capacity KTM 790 Duke.

However, judging from spy shots, the 650cc bike has a flatter steering head angle compared to the 790 Duke, indicating a less active chassis design. The spy images also show changes to the engine components, including the cylinder head and the cooling unit. Expect the output figure to be under 70bhp.

KTM's 650cc Duke: Ergonomics, Other Bits

The ergonomics of the 650cc Duke appears to be more comfortable and relaxed than the 790 Duke, thanks to a revised handlebar and new footrest positions. Nothing can be said about its design at the moment, which largely includes imported parts. We will have to wait for the company to reveal all this and more.

KTM hasn't made any official announcements regarding the possibility of bringing the 650cc Duke to our country. However, since the bike will be built in India, one can expect the Austrian manufacturer to launch it here.
