Ather Energy will reveal its new EL scooter platform on August 30. The announcement was first shared by CEO Tarun Mehta on social media, along with a teaser that gave a first look at a design influenced by the Rizta and 450 models. The unveiling will take place at the company’s annual Ather Community Day. The EL platform has been designed to serve as the base for Ather’s upcoming scooters. It introduces a new powertrain and updated electronics, while continuing to use existing components such as the battery pack and the Atherstack system from the 450 platform. This structure is aimed at keeping development costs in check while preparing products for both Indian and global markets.\

Details remain under wraps for now, but the company is expected to showcase multiple scooters based on the new platform. Until now, Ather’s products have all been built on the 450 series, so the EL platform is seen as the next step in expanding its portfolio and catering to different categories of riders.
Pricing is expected to play an important role. Market speculation points to scooters based on the EL platform starting at under Rs 1 lakh. This would place Ather in direct competition with TVS, Ola Electric, Hero MotoCorp’s Vida, and Bajaj Auto, all of whom already compete in that price range.

In addition to the platform, Ather has planned the rollout of its next generation of fast chargers, aimed at reducing charging times. The company will also introduce Atherstack 7.0, an updated version of its operating system that will bring additional software features and connectivity to the scooter line-up.
