Royal Enfield 650 Range Sees Price Increase of Almost Rs 30,000 Under GST 2.0

Royal Enfield will increase the prices of its 650cc motorcycles from 22 September 2025 due to GST 2.0. Price hikes range from about Rs 22,000 to Rs 30,000, impacting cruisers the most.

Royal Enfield has confirmed a price hike for its 650cc motorcycle range in India, with the revision set to take effect from 22 September 2025. The increase comes in response to the new GST 2.0 structure, which changes the taxation system for larger-capacity bikes in the country. Instead of the earlier 28 percent GST plus 3 percent cess applied on motorcycles above 350cc, the updated system now imposes a flat 40 percent tax rate. This has resulted in a noticeable jump in prices across Royal Enfield’s popular 650cc lineup. While Royal Enfield remains one of the strongest brands in the midsize category, the upward shift in price may prompt some buyers to explore smaller-capacity alternatives or wait for festive-season offers.

The revised tax structure has pushed prices up by Rs 22,000 to Rs 30,000, depending on the model. Cruiser-style offerings have been hit the hardest under the hike. The Super Meteor 650 now starts at Rs 3.99 lakh, marking an increase of Rs 29,486. Similarly, the recently launched Shotgun 650 has gone up by almost Rs 28,000, with its top variant priced at Rs 4.08 lakh. The new Bear 650 has also become costlier by around Rs 25,000.

The brand’s classic roadster variations too have not been spared. The Interceptor 650 is now between Rs 22,500 and Rs 24,600 higher, while the cafe racer-inspired Continental GT 650 sees a bump of Rs 23,700 to Rs 25,600 across trims. The retro-styled Classic 650, which sits closer to Royal Enfield’s heritage line-up, also records an increase of Rs 24,600 to Rs 25,600 depending on the variant.

The new pricing underlines the affordability challenge that GST 2.0 poses for midsize motorcycles in India. With the 650cc range catering to enthusiasts seeking an accessible big-bike experience, the revised costs could influence purchase decisions for many first-time buyers in the premium space. Cruiser fans, in particular, will feel the pinch, given the sharper revisions to models like the Super Meteor and Shotgun.

However, customers eyeing one of Royal Enfield’s 650cc offerings do still have a narrow window before the hike takes effect. Buyers who finalise their booking ahead of 22 September will be able to avoid the new pricing, making this period crucial for those planning an upgrade.
