The Royal Enfield Himalayan lineup is on heat as two highly anticipated models – the Himalayan 750 and an electric variant – were recently spotted undergoing field testing in Ladakh’s challenging terrain. This rugged region has long been a favourite proving ground for the Himalayan range, and these sightings offer a first glimpse at what’s next. The Himalayan 750 appears to continue the lineage’s focus on adventure-ready capability, but with added muscle and possibly upgraded features. Even more intriguing is the electric prototype, signaling Royal Enfield’s bold leap into electrified adventure touring. With the vast expanses of Ladakh behind them, both models are being pushed through extreme conditions – altitude, gravel, and cold – to validate their performance, endurance, and reliability before likely heading toward production.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 750: Key Details

The Himalayan 750 sports a tough, off-road-ready silhouette, marked by a tall windscreen, raised exhaust, round headlamp, and a two-piece seat. At the rear, a modern lighting setup cleverly merges the brake lamp and turn indicators, reminiscent of what we’ve seen on the Himalayan 450.

Mechanically, the bike seems equipped with upside-down front forks, a rear monoshock, and wire-spoke wheels – likely 19-inch at the front and 17-inch at the rear. For the first time on a Royal Enfield, the 750 also appears to adopt dual front disc brakes. On the tech front, a digital TFT screen, dual-channel ABS with switch-off functionality, traction control, and selectable ride modes are expected to be included.

Beneath its bodywork, the Himalayan 750 is set to house a new 750cc parallel-twin engine with air and oil cooling, paired to a six-speed transmission. While official output figures are unavailable, it is anticipated to deliver power north of 50bhp and torque around 60Nm.

Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric: What to Expect

Meanwhile, the company’s electric ambitions are taking shape through the Himalayan Electric – first shown as the Him-E concept at EICMA 2023 and evolved into a more refined Himalayan Electric 2.0 at Motoverse 2024 in Goa. Tailored for adventure touring, this EV will likely receive a reengineered frame, stronger torque delivery, and suspension with full adjustability to take on varied terrains.

Recent spy shots of the electric test mule confirm the presence of premium features: Ohlins suspension front and back, lightweight aluminium elements, a rally-style tower, and a seamless one-piece seat that stretches onto the ‘tank’ area. Other details include single-petal discs on both wheels, dual-sport Bridgestone Battlax Adventurecross tyres, and tubeless spoke rims.

Despite its electric heart, the motorcycle remains visually rooted in the ADV category with familiar elements such as side crash guards, an upright windscreen, and a round LED headlamp. It is also expected to feature a tower-mounted 7-inch Ecumaster display. Performance output is rumoured to match the petrol-powered Himalayan 450, offering a familiar ride experience with zero emissions.
