This Modified Royal Enfield Super Meteor Stands Out with Hand-Shifted Gears and Retro Charm

Royal Enfield has unveiled Project Delta, a custom version of the Super Meteor 650, developed in collaboration with Australian custom workshop Purpose Built Moto. Drawing inspiration from the golden age of motorcycling, Project Delta, a one-off build, sports classic features like a girder fork, reminiscent of 1930s and 1940s machines. It stands as a powerful demonstration of Royal Enfield's ability to seamlessly merge vintage aesthetics with modern engineering, underscoring its dedication to pushing creative boundaries. It’s worth noting that Project Delta is just a prototype and will not go into production.

Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650-based Project Delta: Main Highlights

The modified Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 boasts a blend of vintage charm with modern elements. It features a striking black and gold pinstriped tank, complemented by a slimmer handlebar, custom grips, and levers. A tribute to the past, the bike sports a handcrafted peanut tank, inspired by the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 700 from 1952. The cherry-red handgrips and seat stand out against the sleek black and gold finish, adding a unique and bold touch to its overall design.

The motorcycle’s frame has been reworked to capture the essence of a vintage hardtail while integrating modern elements such as an in-frame oil cooler and monoshock conversion. The handcrafted girder fork and spoked wheels (23-inch front and 19-inch rear) complete the classic aesthetic. The Australian custom workshop has successfully merged old-school design with contemporary elements, ensuring a true riding experience with hand-shifted gears and solid-mounted handlebars.

On the mechanical front, the bike packs the same 648cc, air and oil cooled, parallel-twin engine that churns out a maximum power of 46bhp and a peak torque of 52Nm.

Other Developments

Royal Enfield is set to introduce the highly anticipated Classic 650 in India on March 27, 2025. The upcoming Royal Enfield will be the sixth model in the 650cc range in India. It will be offered in four colours: Red, Blue, Teal, and Black Chrome.

Price-wise, the Classic 650 could demand similar to its 650cc counterparts, the Super Meteor and Shotgun, which are priced at Rs 3.64 lakh and Rs 3.59 lakh, respectively.
