Having revealed the updated Scrambler 1200 line-up in the international market, Triumph Motorcycles has launched the Scrambler 1200 X in the Indian market. Priced at Rs 11.83 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Triumph Scrambler 1200 X is available in three colour options: Carnival Red, Ash Grey, and Sapphire Black. The seat is a single-piece unit, which can be set at a lower height of 795mm. Meanwhile, the standard seat height on offer is 820mm – which is 20mm less than that of the 1200 XC, making the 1200 X more accessible. Apart from that, the riding ergonomics of the Triumph Scrambler 1200 X differs from the top-spec XE. The handlebars on the XE are 65mm wider than those on the X model. Moreover, the XE also gets a nearly 10mm spacer and adjustable foot levers.

Triumph Scrambler 1200 X: Suspension, Braking

Hardware-wise, the Triumph Scrambler 1200 X features a tubular steel frame, suspended by non-adjustable USD front forks (170mm wheel travel) and preload-adjustable twin rear shocks (170mm wheel travel) with piggyback reservoirs, both courtesy of Marzocchi. Note that the suspension on the 1200 X is optimised for on-road handling.

Meanwhile, the braking hardware comprises twin 310mm discs with a two-piston Nissin axial calliper at the front and a single 255mm disc with a single-piston floating Nissin calliper, both assisted by an anti-lock braking system. The motorcycle rolls on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear aluminium wheels wrapped in 90/90 front and 150/70 rear tubeless tyres.

Triumph Scrambler 1200 X: Features, Electronic Aids

The Triumph Scrambler 1200 X features a similar-looking digital console with optional features such as turn-by-turn navigation and notification alerts. Also available are five riding modes – Rain, Road, Sport, Off-road, and bespoke Rider, an IMU-enabled traction control system, and cornering dual-channel ABS. On top of it, there are more than 70 official accessories, ranging from aesthetic to functional.

Triumph Scrambler 1200 X: Chassis, Engine

Powering the new Scrambler 1200 X is a 1,200cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine with a 270-degree crank. Mated to a 6-speed transmission, the engine is capable of producing 89bhp at 7,000rpm and 110Nm of torque at 4,250rpm. The bike tips the scales at 228 kilograms, while the tank capacity stands at 15 litres.

Overseas, the Triumph Scrambler 1200 X has a starting price of £11,895 (approximately Rs 11.93 lakh), while the top-spec XE version costs £13,295 (roughly Rs 13.33 lakh). In India, the bike is about Rs 10,000 less expensive.

Triumph Daytona 660: India Launch Soon?

Ahead of its arrival in India, the Daytona 660 has been launched in the European market at € 10,045 (approx. Rs 8.98 lakh). Powering the bike is a 660cc inline-three engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. The engine is capable of producing 95bhp and 69Nm of peak torque, with the redline set at 12,650rpm.

The newest model in the sport-touring market is expected to go on sale in the country by late February or mid-March. Once launched, it will go up against the Honda CBR650R, the Kawasaki Ninja 650, and the soon-to-be-released Yamaha R7.
