The scrambler range in the Indian market, which previously only included the likes of the Yezdi Scrambler and the Royal Enfield Scram 411, has expanded with the recent arrival of the Scrambler 400 X from the house of well-known British bike manufacturer, Triumph Motorcycles. The Scrambler 400 X was launched in the country a couple of days back with an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 2.63 lakh. Now that off-road biking enthusiasts get to choose from three different options available in our domestic market, it only makes sense to see how the brand-new Triumph model stacks up against one of its most popular rivals, the Royal Enfield Scram 411. Let's find out by comparing them in terms of engine specs, features, design, and more.

Triumph Scrambler 400 X vs Royal Enfield Scram 411 Spec Comparison: Styling

Triumph Scrambler 400X 1

With classic Triumph flair, the Scrambler 400 X has an authentic scrambler design that is very similar to that of its larger Scrambler 900 and 1200 siblings. The Scram 411, on the other hand, is based on the Royal Enfield Himalayan and, with a few exceptions, has bodywork that is essentially identical to that of the ADV. Besides this, a round headlamp, a small fuel tank, and sloped tail sections are shared by both bikes. The Scram 411 has a single-piece saddle, in contrast to the split-style seats on the Scrambler 400 X.

Triumph Scrambler 400 X vs Royal Enfield Scram 411 Spec Comparison: Hardware

In contrast to the Scram 411's 41mm conventional forks, which have a higher 190mm of travel, the Scrambler 400 X has 43mm upside-down front forks with 150mm of travel. At the back of each model, there's a mono-shock with pre-load adjustment. The front and rear wheels on each motorcycle measure 19-inch and 17-inch, respectively. While the Scram 411 comes with wire-spoke wheels, the Scrambler 400 X sports alloy wheels.

Both motorcycles have dual-channel ABS and disc brakes on both ends, but the Scram 411 lacks switchable ABS on the rear wheel whereas the Scrambler 400 X has this feature in addition to switchable traction control.

Triumph Scrambler 400 X vs Royal Enfield Scram 411 Spec Comparison: Features

When it comes to the feature set available with both models, the Scrambler 400X clearly outperforms the Scram 411 in every way. A semi-digital instrument panel, traction control, switchable dual-channel ABS, a standard slip and assist clutch, and LED lighting are all included in the Scrambler 400X. In comparison, the Scram 411 has a halogen headlamp, dual-channel ABS that cannot be switched, and a digital instrument panel. It does, however, provide Bluetooth connectivity and the Tripper Navigation pod as options.

Triumph Scrambler 400 X vs Royal Enfield Scram 411 Spec Comparison: Engine Specs

RE Scram 411 Front

The Triumph Scrambler 400 X is propelled by a 398.15cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that is coupled to a six-speed gearbox and has a maximum power and torque output of 39.5bhp at 8,000rpm and 37.5Nm at 6,500rpm, respectively. Moving on to the mechanicals of the Scram 411, it is powered by a 411cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that is good enough to churn out 24.3bhp at 6,500rpm and 32Nm of torque at 4,250rpm. This unit is mated to a five-speed gearbox to handle transmission duties. On paper, the Triumph Scrambler 400 X appears to be the more powerful of the two, but the Scram 411 delivers its maximum power and torque a little bit lower in the rev range, which should improve tractability.
