Triumph Speed 400: Mechanical Specifications

The new Triumph Speed 400 is powered by a 398.15cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, which also powers the Scrambler 400X. This unit, which is connected to a six-speed gearbox, churns out 39.5bhp of maximum power at 8,000rpm and 37.5Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. A slipper and assist clutch system aids in the transmission duties. Additionally, Triumph Motorcycles has said that both the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400X will have a 16,000km service interval.

Triumph Speed 400: Design

The newly introduced Triumph Speed 400 showcases a captivating retro-modern design that draws inspiration from Triumph's larger-displacement models, such as the Speed Twin. It features a circular headlamp, a semi-digital instrument panel, a curved gasoline tank with knee recesses, a step-up seat, and a side-mounted exhaust. A typical Triumph engine profile with a triangle insignia, a finned cylinder head, and exhaust header clamps further add to its aesthetic appeal. The Triumph 400cc range's road-oriented variation also has 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends. There are three colour combinations available – Carnival Red with Phantom Black, Caspian Blue with Storm Grey, and Phantom Black with Storm Grey.

Triumph Speed 400: Hardware

The Triumph Speed 400 gets a twin-sided cast aluminium swingarm, a tubular steel frame with a bolted rear subframe, and a hybrid spine and perimeter. The suspension duties are taken care of by 43mm upside-down large piston front forks and a rear mono-shock with preload adjustment. The front brake system consists of a 300mm single disc with a four-piston radial calliper, while the rear brake system uses a 230mm single rotor with a two-piston fixed calliper. The kerb weight of this bike stands at 176kgs.

The instrument cluster, on the other hand, has a large analogue speedometer and an LCD screen, which shows a tachometer, fuel-level indicator, and gear indication. Additionally, the manufacturer offers a wide range of up to 25 additional accessories for the Speed 400, allowing riders to customize and personalize their motorcycles according to their preferences and needs.
