Vietnam-based EV brand VinFast is getting ready to step into India’s electric two-wheeler space, and it looks like the plan is already in motion. The company has filed multiple design patents here, which clearly shows it is serious about entering one of the fastest-growing EV markets. More details about the models for India will be announced at a later stage. This move fits into VinFast’s larger goal of building a strong presence in India’s green mobility push.

For India, VinFast is going with Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries. Now, this is a smart choice. These batteries are known for better thermal stability and long life, something that really matters in Indian conditions.
One of the more interesting bits is the battery-swapping plan. Instead of waiting around to charge, riders can simply swap a drained battery for a fully charged one at dedicated stations. It sounds practical, especially for people who use their scooters every day or even for delivery work where downtime needs to be minimal.
Production will happen at VinFast’s facility in Tamil Nadu. Local manufacturing and assembly should help keep costs in check and ensure smoother supply. The brand will begin with assembly and then slowly move towards using more locally sourced components, which is the usual game plan for scaling in India.
On the sales side, VinFast is working on setting up a new retail and service network across key cities. It is also lining up partnerships to support after-sales and service needs. With EV adoption picking up and government incentives in place, the timing of this entry seems well planned.
