India Yamaha Motor has announced a Rs 5,000 price cut on the Yamaha R15 range to mark the company’s 70-year milestone. The revised ex-showroom prices come into effect from 5 January 2026 across authorised dealerships in India. This move brings the entry point of the R15 series down to Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom), making the bike more accessible for riders planning to step into the performance commuter space. The update focuses only on pricing, keeping the familiar R15 appeal intact while giving buyers a clear reason to visit showrooms during this period.

The R15 V4 sits at Rs 1.66 (ex-showroom) while the top-spec R15 M is listed at Rs 1.81 lakh (ex-showroom). The Rs 5,000 reduction applies evenly across all variants, which means the price gap between trims remains unchanged. Yamaha has also confirmed that all colour options fall under this revised pricing.

The R15 range continues to play an important role in Yamaha’s India portfolio. Cumulative production of the R15 series has crossed the one million unit mark in the country. Despite the price revision, there are no changes to features or hardware. Production continues at existing facilities, and dealerships are implementing the new prices at the same time across regions.
On the mechanical front, the Yamaha R15 remains unchanged. It uses a 155cc liquid-cooled engine producing 18.1bhp and 14.2Nm of torque. Power is sent through a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. The chassis setup includes upside-down front forks, a rear monoshock, and disc brakes, with dual-channel ABS available on select variants.

Earlier, the R15 S was priced above Rs 1.55 lakh ex-showroom, with higher variants positioned accordingly. The uniform Rs 5,000 reduction now reflects across the range, though on-road prices will still vary by state due to taxes. The updated pricing is live at Yamaha dealerships nationwide, helping the R15 stay competitive against rivals from Bajaj and TVS in the performance commuter segment.
