Yamaha Motor India has finally updated the motorcycle which kickstarted the performance bike culture in India less than a decade ago by adding a single seat to it.

Not so long ago in the past, Yamaha changed the motorcycling scene in India when it launched the R15 in India. This was the motorcycle that soon became a cult in the Indian market by offering performance which was never heard before in this part of the world. In many ways, it can be said that this was the bike which started the ‘racing culture’ in India.

After revamping the bike in 2011 by launching Yamaha YZF – R15version 2.0, Yamaha has decided to launch its ‘single seat’ variant keeping in mind the customers’ requirements. The bike will still be powered by the usual 150cc, liquid cooled, 4 stroke SOHC, 4 Valve engine, front and rear discbrakes along with a fuel capacity of 12 litres.

Mr. Roy Kurian, Vice President- Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd shared, “Yamaha R15 is a pure sports vehicle designed especially for racing enthusiasts so that they can experience the power and passion that a sports bike has to offer. However, our research showed that a particular customer segment desired for a single seat version as it is more convenient for the pillion rider. Even so, the split seat version 2.0 will also continue to be in the market along with the new single seat variant. We, at Yamaha keep our customers first and hence this introduction was imperative.”

The single-seat YZF-R15S will be available across all the Yamaha dealerships in India with a price tag of Rs. 1,14,741 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
