Yamaha has launched the new Cygnus XR155 in Taiwan, expanding its Cygnus scooter range with a 155cc engine for riders seeking extra power without losing daily usability. Yamaha claims the scooter retains the commuter-focused strengths of the Cygnus line, while adopting a platform already proven in other Yamaha models. The brand is positioning it for riders wanting a balance of performance, practicality and running efficiency in the mid-capacity scooter category.
The Cygnus XR155 borrows design cues from Yamaha’s maxi-scooter family. Its triple-lens LED headlamp, inspired by the XMAX, is a central highlight. The setup is designed for improved visibility in low-light conditions, supporting safer urban and highway riding.

A standout feature is the scooter’s adaptive lighting technology. The headlamp can shift colour temperature automatically, switching between white and warm white light based on ambient brightness. Yamaha says this provides better clarity in both city traffic and darker road stretches.
Powering the Cygnus XR155 is a 155cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), the same unit seen in the Aerox 155. It produces 15bhp and 13.9Nm of torque, enabling smooth acceleration while supporting fuel efficiency. Combined with a commuter-oriented frame, the scooter is aimed at delivering usable performance with manageable running costs.

Unlike the sport-focused Aerox, the XR155 uses a flat floorboard, offering more foot space and room to place items during daily rides. This layout enhances convenience for urban commuting. Currently available only in Taiwan, the Cygnus XR155 could slot between the RayZR 125 and Aerox 155 if introduced in India, adding a new alternative in the growing 150cc scooter segment.
