Yamaha Motor India recently announced the arrival of the eagerly awaited YZF-R3 in the Indian market. Carrying an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 4.65 lakh, the R3 is relatively expensive because it is imported as a CBU. The preceding-generation model was a CKD import. The Yamaha MT-03, which retails for Rs 4.60 lakh (ex-showroom), was also launched alongside the R3. This model will be offered for sale via the whole import channel as well. Notably, the MT-03 marked its debut here and will be on sale with its supersport sibling, the R3, which was previously available for purchase in India. Prospective buyers can pre-order the YZF-R3 and MT-03 from Yamaha India's official website. Here's an overview of the styling elements, engine specs, features, and other details regarding the Yamaha YZF-R3.

Yamaha R3: Design Cues

Yamaha-YZF-R3-back

The new Yamaha R3 misses the latest design language from the Japanese automaker, which is a feature shared by models like the R1, R6, R7, and even the R15. It has a sporty, aerodynamic look that seems to be influenced by the R7 and the R1. The new R3 yet manages to radiate flair and sportiness despite that. This is mostly because the most recent version has an Upside Down (USD) fork, which improves its visual attractiveness. The bike also has a windscreen, a curved fuel tank, a clip-on handlebar, a full fairing, twin LED headlamps, and a compact LED taillight, among other unique elements. The model is available in Yamaha Black and Icon Blue paint options. The new shade of purple that the bike manufacturer added to the R3 for MY2023 has not yet been introduced in the domestic market.

Yamaha R3: Engine Specs and Chassis

Maintaining the same chassis as its predecessor, the new-gen R3 looks familiar. Moreover, the powerful 321cc parallel-twin, DOHC engine, is the same, producing a peak torque of 29.5Nm at 9,000rpm and a fast 42bhp at 10,750rpm. Yamaha claims that the new R3 weighs just 169 kg, making it incredibly light and easy to handle. Its rider-friendly 780mm seat height further improves accessibility. With a slip-and-assist clutch for seamless operation, a 6-speed gearbox competently handles the transmission chores.

The hardware components on the bike include a rear monoshock with 125mm of travel and KYB upside-down front forks with 130mm of travel. A dual-channel ABS supports the effective management of braking duties by a front 298mm disc and a rear 220mm disc. With its road-biased rubber tyres and 17-inch wheels, the motorcycle delivers a quick and steady ride.
