Yamaha has finally launched the highly anticipated YZF-R3 and MT-03 in India, with prices of Rs 4.65 lakh and Rs 4.60 lakh, respectively (both ex-showroom). During the most recent 2023 MotoGP Bharat, which took place at the Buddha International Circuit, the YZF-R3, a fully faired sports tourer, and the MT-03, its naked cousin with a minimalist design that showcases exposed mechanical elements, were on display.

Marking the return of the Yamaha R3 and the debut of the MT-03 in the Indian market, these middleweight bikes will be imported as Completely Built Units (CBU) from Thailand. It's important for potential buyers to be aware that these models will not be available at every Yamaha dealership. The manufacturer claims that these motorcycles would only be available at select Blue Square dealerships across more than 100 cities in India.

The YZF-R3 and MT-03 can be pre-ordered by interested customers through Yamaha India's official website. Now, let's delve into the key details of these exciting new Yamaha models.

Yamaha R3 Rear

The supersport R3 boasts distinctive features such as twin LED headlamps, a windscreen, a curved fuel tank, a clip-on handlebar, a full fairing, and a compact LED taillight. The R3 appears to draw inspiration from the R7 and the R1, reflecting a sporty and aerodynamic aesthetic. There are two paint finishes available for the R3 - Icon Blue and Yamaha Black.

Yamaha MT-03: Design

The MT-03, on the other hand, has a streetfighter look and showcases a square, bi-functional LED headlight with split-style LED DRLs, along with an upswept side-mounted exhaust, a bold fuel tank, and a slender LED taillamp. The MT-03 seems to take cues from the MT-07 and the MT-09, exuding a street-smart and aggressive vibe. There are two colour options available for the MT-03 - Midnight Cyan and Midnight Black.

Yamaha R3, MT-03: Engine

Powering these Yamaha motorcycles is a robust 321cc parallel-twin, DOHC engine, delivering an impressive 42bhp at 10,750rpm and a peak torque of 29.5Nm at 9,000rpm. The transmission duties are expertly handled by a 6-speed gearbox featuring a slip and assist clutch for smooth operation.

When it comes to the chassis components, these bikes are equipped with KYB upside-down front forks boasting 130mm of travel, complemented by a rear monoshock with 125mm of travel. Braking responsibilities are efficiently managed by a front 298mm disc and a rear 220mm disc, both supported by a dual-channel ABS system. Rolling on 17-inch wheels shod with road-biased rubber, these motorcycles ensure a confident and responsive ride.
