2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA facelift launched
Mercedes-Benz is on a roll! The luxury car maker launched three new products last month and has now added another one to the list. Earlier this year at the Detroit Motor Show in January, Mercedes-Benz showcased the GLA facelift and it has now made it to Indian shores.

Earlier this year at the Detroit Motor Show in January, Mercedes-Benz showcased the GLA facelift and it has now made it to Indian shores. The 2017 GLA facelift is priced at Rs 32.2 lakh for the base petrol and Rs 36.75 lakh for the top-spec diesel.
So what's new in this 2017 GLA? Like all facelifts, the changes to the GLA are primarily cosmetic. Up front, the GLA gets a new remoulded grille with chrome accents, a redesigned bumper and with a newly designed air dam. The Bi-Xenon headlamps from the outgoing model have been replaced by LED ones. The taillights too are of the LED kind and have a contoured finish. Mercedes has also fitted the GLA facelift with a new set of alloy wheels. Not much has been altered on the inside except for the mildly redesigned three-spoke steering wheel and a new 8-inch infotainment system. A few chrome bits and minor updates to the instrumentation have also been incorporated.
The top of the range GLA 220d 4MATIC is loaded with equipment like rain sensing wipers, 12 interior ambient lighting colours, keyless entry with push-button stop-start and Attention Assist safety feature which senses the level of the drivers' drowsiness from steering inputs and flashes a warning. Additionally, it is also offered with four interior colour options and two alloy wheel options. The Off Road package is offered as standard with the 220d 4MATIC, while LED headlamps are standard across the range.
Under the hood, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA will continue to be offered with the same engine options. The 2.1-litre diesel motor makes 134bhp and 168bhp in the 200d and 220d variants respectively. The 2.0-litre gasoline motor is good for 180bhp. Both these engines come mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox. The Stuttgart-based car maker recently introduced a new 2.0-litre diesel engine in the E220d but that hasn't been introduced in the GLA as yet as that engine is tuned for the new 9-speed automatic gearbox.
