Even after the addition of a Performance Pack to the Mustang GT, Ford couldn’t quite bring it close to the mean GT350. Realising the gap between the two, Ford has now added a new Performance Pack 2 to the Mustang GT – and it surely does the job of bridging the gap.

Those who opt for the Performance Pack 2, will get wider 19-inch Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, beefed-up suspension and a retuned steering wheel. Changes to the suspension bring it half an inch lower to the ground. To endow the Mustang GT with improved handling dynamics, the front and rear sway bars have been stiffened by 12 percent and 67 percent respectively. The springs are now stiffer – by 20 percent and 13 percent respectively. Much to the delight of enthusiasts, this will surely limit the body roll, but at the same time heighten the problem of tacking potholes. As far as design elements go, this Performance Pack 2 adds a new front splitter and rear spoiler to the Mustang GT. The front splitter increases the downforce thereby helping the car with better grip. To ensure that the rear is equally grippy, Ford has installed a subtle rear spoiler on the boot.

Aside from this, the Mustang GT will continue to sport the updates from the first Performance Pack. This includes the beefier Brembo brakes with larger rotors, a larger radiator, a lower strut brace and a Torsen differential.

While all of this is surely exciting news for Mustang buyers, Indian enthusiasts will be disappointed as these Performance Packs are only available for the manual transmission variant – which sadly isn’t on sale in India. Internationally, this Performance Pack 2 is available at an additional cost of $6,500 (Rs 4.2 lakh approx.)
