With a mid-cycle refresh, the 2019 Elantra has been given a sharper look and a longer equipment list.

Hyundai has quietly, and rather unexpectedly, pulled the covers off its refreshed Hyundai Elantra. The new car gets significant styling updates in the form of new headlamps with LED DRLs, a revised grille, a more muscular-shaped bonnet, triangular fog lamps and larger alloys sporting a new design. While the side profile remains more or less unchanged, the rear gets a new, restyled bumper with reversing lights along with rear fog lamps tucked into housings and extended tail-lamps that move on to the boot lid. Also, the license plate has moved from the boot to the rear bumper in exchange for bigger, clearer name lettering. The overall styling seems to be derived from the new Sonata sedan.

More importantly, the new Elantra has been fitted with a host of safety features such as a blind-spot monitoring system, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning with active lane control and a rearview camera with a cross-traffic alert system. On the inside, the key highlight is the addition of a new 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system which gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity as standard, only on the higher variants.

With no clear date of arrival, the refreshed Hyundai Elantra is expected to reach Indian shores sometime next year and will compete directly with the upcoming Honda Civic.
