2019 Hyundai i20 Active launched at ₹ 7.74 lakh

Hyundai has silently launched the 2019 i20 Active with a handful of changes in the variant line-up & some feature additions. 

For 2019, the i20 Active only gets a handful of changes. Therefore, the carmaker has gone for a silent launch this time. The biggest change comes in the i20 Active's variant line-up. Earlier, the car was available in three trims - Base, S & SX. For 2019, Hyundai has dropped the base trim and now, the S trim marks the entry-level variant. Consequently, prices for the 2019 i20 Active start from ₹ 7.74 lakh (1.2 petrol S) and go up to ₹ 9.93 lakh (1.4 diesel SX). All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. Compared to the price figures from May 2018, the 1.2 petrol S has become more expensive by ₹ 14,000 (approx.) & the 1.4 diesel SX by ₹ 16,000 (approx.). Further, the 2019 i20 Active is available with the 1.4 diesel only in the top-spec SX trim (1.4 diesel S variant discontinued). The diesel line-up also loses out on the SX Dual Tone variant for 2019.

In terms of features, the 2019 i20 Active gets a Speed Alert System (as part of the recently-mandated safety regulations for vehicles) & wireless phone charging. Also, the earlier Brown interior colour pack has also been dropped for this year, leaving Satin Red & Alps Blue as the only two interior colour options. Rest of the car remains identical to the 2018 iteration, in terms of both the exterior styling and the engine/transmission options. The 1.4-litre U2 CRDi motor comes paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox and, as before, produces 89bhp & 220Nm of torque. The 1.2-litre Kappa petrol motor, likewise, continues to produce 82bhp & 115Nm of torque, but with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
