More than three years after the launch of the Compass in India, Jeep India has finally given it an update, and a substantial one at that. The updated 2021 Jeep Compass is now priced starting Rs 16.99 lakh for the base Sport trim with the 1.4-litre Turbo heart. To draw a comparison, the outgoing Compass’ base Sport Plus trim with the same heart was priced at Rs 16.49 lakh. Here’s a variant-wise comparison of the new and old prices.

On the outside, the changes to the 2021 Compass are limited to a redesigned front with revised air dams, and an updated grille. Jeep has now fitted the Compass with LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs too. Along the side profile, the Compass sits on newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels. There aren’t many changes to the design around the back. Jeep has really focused on redoing the interior of the refreshed Compass. The dashboard has been completely redone. It now sports a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Uconnect5 system featuring connected tech and OTA updates. Other highlight features include wireless charging (including Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), an all-digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera, electric and ventilated front seats and more.

Powering the 2021 Compass face-lift will be the same set of engines – a 1.4-litre turbo petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel. The petrol is good for 160bhp and 250Nm. The diesel on the other hand makes 171bhp and 350Nm. Both engines come paired with a manual as well as automatic transmission option. Interestingly, the new Jeep Compass only gets the all-wheel drive option with the diesel engine and automatic transmission combination. The off-road focused Trailhawk hasn’t been launched as yet, and will come at a later date.

Just like before, the Jeep Compass will continue to hold its own against the Tata Harrier, Hyundai Tucson and the likes.
