2022 WagonR to feature Maruti Suzuki's DualJet tech

The DualJet engine tech is now becoming common amongst most Maruti Suzuki cars, and the new 2022 WagonR is the next to receive it. 

A leaked document on the social network has confirmed that the upcoming WagonR facelift will feature updated engines. While the engine capacity and the layout will remain the same, Maruti Suzuki will update the engine head to a DualJet one, which essentially means that the new WagonR will also get two fuel injectors per cylinder. The DualJet engine was first introduced with the older Baleno a few years ago. The tech was then extended to the Swift. More recently, the new-gen Celerio featured the same 1.0-litre DualJet engine, and the 2022 Baleno, which was launched earlier this week, features a 1.2-litre DualJet motor.

The new WagonR will offer a choice between these two aforementioned engines. The lower variant will be equipped with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder DualJet engine, while the higher variants will get the 1.2-litre four-cylinder DualJet engine. Both engines will feature an idle start-stop system. The smaller 1.0-litre engine will also be available with CNG, and there will be an option for AMT.

Currently, the WagonR is priced between Rs 5.18 lakh and Rs 6.58 lakh (ex-showroom). The WagonR facelift is likely to cost Rs 10,000 – 15,000 more, across all variants. The MY22 WagonR will also be available in new variants.
