2023 Hyundai Sonata Breaks Cover Globally; Gets Sportier Design

Hyundai Motor Company officially took wraps off the 2023 Sonata in international markets. According to reports, the new model will globally go on sale on March 30. On the appearance front, the sedan has received an exterior and interior design improvements. Its design resembles the flagship Grandeur luxury sedan and the recently launched India-spec Verna. As far as trims are concerned, the upcoming sedan will be offered in the standard and the N Line versions. Currently, we have no information on the new Sonata's technical specifics. They are expected to be revealed closer to the launch. However, according to industry reports, Hyundai will retain the engine of the previous model. Here's detailed information on the exterior and interior of the new model that will mark its global presence shortly in international markets.

2023 Hyundai Sonata: Engine Details 

There is no exact update on the powertrain of the new Sonata yet. However, the Sonata facelift and its N Line variant will reportedly keep the same available powertrain options as the outgoing model. For those unaware, several petrol powertrains, including a plug-in hybrid, were offered for the pre-facelift model. The previous N line Sonata was available with a 2.5-litre turbocharged engine, producing a 286bhp and 422Nm, paired with an 8-speed DCT transmission.

2023 Hyundai Sonata: Exterior 

Thanks to the full-width LED DRL strip, the 2023 Sonata's front fascia resembles the all-new Verna, recently launched in India. The new H-shaped LED tail lights on the rear end are linked and resemble those on the Venue. The rear garnish and arching trunk lid of the standard Sonata version are styled like exhaust pipes. Meanwhile, the Sonata N Line model comes fitted with 19-inch wheels. It also gets a reworked grille with blacked-out parts, quad exhaust tips, and the N Line badging.

2023 Hyundai Sonata: Interior 

Coming to the inside, the Sonata differs from the outgoing version. The new 12.3-inch touchscreen and digital driver's display, similar to the new BMW models, are housed in a more driver-focused dashboard. Moreover, it also has a driving controller stalk behind the new three-spoke steering wheel and touch-based haptic controls for the HVAC system, identical to the Ioniq 5.

2023 Hyundai Sonata: Launch Timeline

Right now, we only have information regarding the interior and exterior of the new sedan, which will have an official launch on March 30 in international markets. There is no information on its launch in our market. The model was first introduced in India in 2001 and competed with the Honda Accord. In India, Hyundai sold the Sonata in three different versions, with the second generation going on sale in 2005. In 2009, this model finally underwent a makeover. Hyundai's third-generation model, featuring the fluidic design language, was launched in 2012. Nevertheless, it eventually discontinued in India in 2015 as sales of D-segment sedans dropped. The 2023 Hyundai Sonata in a revamped avatar is now ready to make its presence felt in the international market. Let's wait to see what this updated version will offer to its customers on a global platform.
