The new-generation Verna, which is a significant departure from the previous model, was recently launched by Hyundai in the Indian market. The 2023 Verna from Hyundai has just been launched, with prices ranging between Rs 10.90 lakh and Rs 17.38 lakh (ex-showroom). Only lately have buyers been able to purchase the sixth-generation Hyundai Verna at attractive introductory prices. Inside and out, the midsize sedan has undergone a lot of changes. The all-new Verna is substantially larger, has a new powertrain, and has a lot more high-end features than its predecessor. The 2023 Verna will be available in seven colours: Typhoon Silver, Fiery Red, Starry Night, Titan Grey, Abyss Black, Atlas White, and Tellurian Brown. We have thoroughly compared the two on a number of parameters to give you a better understanding of how comparable or different they are.

New-gen Hyundai Verna vs Old Model: Features

With features like an eight-inch touchscreen, a semi-digital console, side and curtain airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill start assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), machined alloy wheels, in-car connected technology, ventilated front seats, leather seat upholstery, adjustable headrests, etc., the old Verna was already a feature-rich segment.

ADAS, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a new steering wheel, a smart tailgate, powered front seats with ventilated and message functions, an electric sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, six airbags as standard, improved BlueLink connectivity with multiple language support, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and other features raise the bar for the new-generation sedan.

New-gen Hyundai Verna vs Old Model: Exterior Design

Hyundai decided to redesign the new Verna using a new approach. The sixth-generation sedan's front fascia is much bolder than the older model's, which didn't have many garish features. This is because of the long LED DRL strip and the "Parametric Jewel" grille design. Rather than its generation lineup, the new Verna is more similar to the most recent Elantra that is sold all over the world. The model still has multi-reflector LED headlights even though it no longer includes fog lamps (instead, its headlights have cornering functionality). Radar for the advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) is yet another recent improvement to the new Verna's front end.

The new Verna is very different from the previous version even from the back. While the previous model had wraparound LED taillights that gave it a clean appearance, the new model's rear looks busier because of the geometric elements in the bumper and the fang-like connected taillights.

New-gen Hyundai Verna vs Old Model: Engine and Gearbox

One of the main improvements is the new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that will replace the 1.0-litre petrol engine in the 2023 Hyundai Verna. The 1.5-litre NA MPi petrol engine continues to produce the same amounts of power and torque. The two available petrol engines meet RDE and E20 standards while also being more fuel-efficient. In direct competition with the 148bhp 1.5-litre Evo petrol engine-equipped variants of the Volkswagen Virtus and the Skoda Slavia, the more potent turbo petrol engine produces 158bhp and 253Nm. It has a six-speed manual transmission (MT) or seven-speed DCT option, can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 8.1 seconds, and has a stated fuel efficiency of 20.6km/l.

New-gen Hyundai Verna vs Old Model: Interior Details

With the generation upgrade, the interior of the car has also undergone significant improvement. By adding more soft-touch materials, a two-spoke steering wheel, sleeker AC vents, and silver accents all over, Hyundai has significantly improved the interior of the new Verna. The Verna maintains its dual-tone (black and beige) standard interior and offers all-black interiors with red accents for turbo models. The dual display setup (including a digitised instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen), though, is its highlight feature.
