2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R Revealed Globally with 710bhp and Styling Tweaks

Ford has revealed the refreshed F-150 Raptor R, which is the most extreme version of the American brand's best-selling pickup. It also happens to be more potent than the Stellantis-owned Ram 1500 TRX, the Final Edition of which will be offered exclusively for 2024. That's because the 2024 F-150 Raptor R comes powered by a 5.2-litre supercharged V8 engine, which is the same performance unit as the Mustang Shelby GT500 (750bhp). However, it's the new engine calibration that has been done to help produce a wider and smoother torque curve, meaning more torque at a broader range of engine speeds. This, coupled with reduced air inlet losses, results in 710bhp (720hp), making the 2024 F-150 Raptor R more powerful than the 6.2-litre supercharged V8-powered Ram 1500 TRX that delivers 692bhp. 

Speaking of the Ram 1500 TRX, the gas-powered pickup truck will meet its replacement in 2025 when the 1500 RHO will go on sale. The newcomer will come powered by a 3.0-litre inline-6 twin-turbocharged V6 engine with 533bhp (540hp).

Meanwhile, the torque figure of the 2024 Raptor R stands at the same 868Nm. The F-150 Raptor R gets a front axle, an aluminium-ribbed structural cover, and an aluminium driveshaft to handle the torque. Having said that, the engine comes mated to a 10-speed SelectShift automatic gearbox as well as a four-wheel-drive system. There is also a dual exhaust system with a true pass-through muffler and active valve system, offering 4 driving modes: Normal, Sport, Quiet, and Baja. These can be selected by pressing the R button on the steering wheel.

Another highlight is the vehicle's electronically-controlled Fox Dual Live Valve shocks with adjustable compression and rebound valving for improved drive quality and roll control on and off-road. Meanwhile, extra-long trailing arms, a Panhard rod, and 24-inch coil springs are part of the five-link rear suspension. 

2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R: Styling & Features

Style-wise, the 2024 F-150 Raptor R comes with a more aggressively styled power dome on the hood, an iconic 'FORD' grille, a new headlamp setup with daytime running lights, and black-finished fender flares. The Ford Performance-exclusive Code Orange accents include a unique 'R' badge on the grille, power dome, and tailgate. Inside, the vehicle remains the same; however, it does get a heads-up display as an optional extra. Also available is wireless Apple CarPlay/Android connectivity.

2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R: Price

Overseas, the 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R asks for a starting price of $111,550 (roughly Rs 92.87 lakh). The price is inclusive of a $1,995 destination charge. On the other hand, the less-expensive 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor starts at $79,995 (Rs 66.60 lakh), including a $1,995 destination charge.
