Kia Picanto 2024

Kia recently introduced an updated version of its popular Picanto compact hatchback. This smallest Kia model incorporates a more aggressive style and better technology within the interior, however, it is no longer available with turbocharged engines and is now only offered with normally aspirated ones. The third-generation Picanto was first released in 2017 and received a minor upgrade in 2020. The Picanto adopts the "Opposites United" style language in its own unique way, demonstrating how seriously Kia is taking this round of styling updates. With additional standard equipment, over-the-air update functionality, and new technology that is touted to make it "one of the safest cars in its class," the new Picanto claims to be easier to drive than before. According to the brand, the hatchback was specifically created with young professionals and short, urban commutes in mind.

The new Picanto's aggressive and futuristic appearance is a result of its contemporary and athletic design cues, which were inspired by Kia's "Opposites United" design philosophy. The car's striking appearance is enhanced by the addition of a new bumper, tiger-nose grille, fender, and bonnet to the front fascia. The 2024 Picanto has a commanding stance and an enhanced modern and technologically progressive look thanks to optional LED headlights and Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). The rear design emphasises the vertical connection between the new rear lights and rear bumper, highlighting strength and width. There are two trim levels to choose from. The base vehicle comes with 14-inch or 15-inch alloy wheels as standard, with a new optional 16-inch choice. The GT-Line model has a hot-hatch-inspired design update, recessed bumpers, and extra equipment. Moreover, the palette for 2023 now includes four more paint hues, taking the total available colour options to ten.

2024 Kia Picanto: Engine and Gearbox

The 2024 Picanto will be offered with three-cylinder 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engines, although precise details regarding the engines are not yet known. AMTs, or automated manual transmissions, are still in use. The engines have been modified by Kia's experts to be more environment-friendly and more effective than before. It is also available with a five-speed manual transmission.

The new Picanto comes equipped with a lot of additional features for better connectivity and convenience. An 8.0-inch "floating" touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster serve as the focal points of the cabin. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also supported by the infotainment system. The Picanto has an onboard services package through Kia Connect that includes points of interest, parking information, real-time traffic updates, and weather forecasts.

2024 Kia Picanto: Safety Suite

All the major automakers now place a high priority on safety, and the Kia Picanto also strives to offer the same, as per the company. The South Korean carmaker has loaded this hatchback with modern safety features like ESC, 7-airbags, ISOFIX points, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) along with Hill-start Assist Control (HAC). It also boasts ADAS and other safety features including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), cyclist and pedestrian detection, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Driver Attention Warning, and Leading Vehicle Departure Warning (DAW+). By using the front-facing camera to keep the car centred inside its lane, the Lane Following Assist (LFA) technology improves stability and safety. In the event that another vehicle is seen while reversing, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) informs the driver and causes the car to stop.

2024 Kia Picanto: Expected Launch and Price

Although the exact UK price of the new Kia Picanto has not yet been disclosed, it is anticipated to go on sale later this year. The present entry-level model is probably going to be discontinued, and with the new model's extra standard features, you may anticipate a price increase above the current £13,415 (About Rs 14.02 lakh) price tag. It's expected to be somewhere around £15,000 (around Rs 15.68 lakh).
