A teaser for the second-generation LM luxury van, which will be available later this year, has been shared by Lexus India on its official social media handles. The 2024 Lexus LM is expected to launch around the holiday season, and our home market might receive the high-end vehicle only four months following the rest of the world. For those who don't know, the new Toyota Vellfire MPV, which recently arrived in India, serves as the basis for the next-generation Lexus LM. A few months back, the upcoming LM MPV was introduced at this year's Shanghai Auto Show. The model was previously exclusively available in China, but the automaker has now revealed that the new LM will be marketed in both left- and right-hand drive configurations in markets including the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and China. The MPV has sliding doors on both sides and is internationally offered in two seating arrangements. Notably, the Lexus LM, which the firm anticipates releasing in the upcoming months, will be its first MPV for the Indian market.

2024 Lexus LM: Dimensions and Overall Appearance

The TNGA-K modular platform from Toyota is used by the latest generation LM. The MPV has a wheelbase of 3,000mm and measures 5,125mm in length, 1,890mm in width, and 1,955mm in height. The LM's updated exterior includes a massive grille with hexagonal-patterned elements, Lexus' recognisable daytime running lights built into LED headlights, door-mounted outside door mirrors, a light bar at the back running across the width, and new 17- and 19-inch alloy wheels. Additionally, the body panels of the LM include numerous cuts and creases that dominate its design language.

2024 Lexus LM: Powertrain Options

The India-spec LM and the global-spec version will both have the same technical features given that it will be released as a CBU model in our country. Two gasoline-hybrid powertrain options will be available for the second-generation Lexus LM. The first will be a 2.5-litre self-charging hybrid engine, while the other might be a more potent powertrain that will debut soon. Thus, the Lexus LM is anticipated to go on sale in India with a 2.5-litre self-charging engine and 4WD as standard.

2024 Lexus LM: Premium Interior Features

The new Lexus LM is mostly chauffeur-driven, yet it relies heavily on its interior. It is offered in six- or seven-seater arrangements, along with a more opulent four-seater design, on a global scale. It is likely that Lexus will only be selling the top-of-the-line four-seater version in India. Furthermore, the separate, electrically operated back seats have a 48-inch touchscreen in front of them. Among the various amenities are a retractable leather-wrapped table positioned under the armrest, 64-colour ambient lighting, two-level dimming privacy glass, and a refrigerator. The lavish LM is also the first car from the manufacturer to include the Rear Climate Concierge smart air conditioning system. With the aid of infrared sensors, the system locates the passenger's face, chest, thighs, and lower legs to determine how much cooling is required in the cabin and then adjusts the temperature as necessary.

2024 Lexus LM: Anticipated Price and Rivals

It is expected that the Lexus LM will be priced higher than the Toyota Vellfire, which retails for a whopping Rs 1.2 crore to Rs 1.3 crore (ex-showroom). The Vellfire will be the only direct rival to the LM, but the soon-to-be-launched product from Lexus can be viewed as an alternative to premium SUVs like the Mercedes-Benz GLS and the BMW X7.
