The second-generation LM MPV was unveiled by Lexus at the ongoing Shanghai Auto Show 2023. The new Lexus LM will be offered in more markets than its predecessor, such as India, Europe, the Middle East, and the UK. For customers who are not looking for a chauffeur-driven SUV, the new LM, which stands for Luxury Mover, has been designed for even more comfort and luxury. The next-generation Toyota Alphard and the Vellfire, which are also anticipated to make their global debut soon, will serve as the foundation for the new Lexus LM MPV. Later this year, Lexus is most likely to launch the second-generation LM to our markets. The first-generation LM MPV was displayed at Auto Expo 2023 in January, and the automaker later confirmed that India would surely be receiving the new model.

Fold-out tables, numerous USB ports, wireless phone chargers, reading lights, vanity mirrors, a fridge, rear gloveboxes, and an umbrella holder are also provided for passengers. A glass panel that can be raised or lowered and dimmed by Lexus is also available for added privacy.

While an overhead console controls the doors, storage compartments, and cabin temperature, the company has also unveiled a new voice control system that it claims is the first of its kind in the world to cater specifically to rear passengers. The climate, seat functions, interior lighting, window coverings, and audio settings can all be changed using a separate control panel modelled after a smartphone. Additionally, there is an emphasis on sound absorption, with the new headliner and better sealing increasing insulation by 40 per cent. The LM also has active noise control, which mutes sounds picked up by a microphone while driving, as well as noise-cancelling wheels and tyres. Digital dials, a panoramic view monitor, a digital infotainment system, and a rear-view digital mirror all benefit drivers.

Lexus LM MPV: Exterior Design Details

The new Lexus LM is now built on Toyota's GA-K modular platform, which serves as the foundation for a wide range of vehicles, including the Camry, the Lexus ES, the Lexus RX, and SUVs like the Toyota RAV4 and the Highlander that are exported. The second-generation LM receives updated styling, the most recent iteration of the oversized Lexus grille, fashionable headlamps, and more. The slab-sided appearance of the outgoing LM is lessened in profile by a redesigned glasshouse and subtle creases running the length of the body.

Despite the fact that the Lexus LM's length, at 5,130mm, remains the same, Lexus offers two seating configurations. The new LM measures 1,890mm across and 1,945mm tall as well. It rides on a set of 17- or 19-inch alloy wheels and has sliding doors.

Two petrol-hybrid options will be available for the new Lexus LM's powertrain. The Lexus LM350h will offer the 2.5-litre self-charging hybrid engine that is found in other Toyota and Lexus models, which also comes standard with four-wheel drive. At a later time, a relatively powerful LM500h will also be added to the global lineup.

Lexus LM MPV: Safety Features

There is a lengthy list of safety features included with the new Lexus LM. Pre-Collision Warning, Pre-Collision Brake Assist, and Pre-Collision Braking are a few of these. Additionally, available features also include Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, and Abnormal Driver Response System, which considers the driver's posture when the lane tracing assist system is activated. Hazard lights will flash and the vehicle will decelerate gradually if the system determines that the driver is unable to continue.

Furthermore, the 2024 Lexus LM doors feature an e-Latch system that includes Safe Exit Assist (with Door Open Control) for both front and sliding doors. This can alert drivers to approaching vehicles from behind and stop doors from opening by issuing a warning notification.
