The new Skoda Kodiaq and the current Toyota Fortuner cater to very different buyer needs, making for an interesting comparison in the full-size SUV space. Built on the MQB Evo platform, the second-gen Kodiaq emphasises comfort, efficiency, and technology, offering turbo-petrol and mild-hybrid options with refined road manners. In contrast, the Toyota Fortuner sticks to its rugged, ladder-frame roots, powered by a torquey 2.8-litre diesel engine with selectable 4WD, making it a favorite for off-road and utility-focused buyers. While the Kodiaq impresses with a more premium cabin, digital displays, and larger touchscreen options, the Fortuner offers superior ground clearance, higher towing capacity, and proven durability. This spec comparison breaks down their key differences in performance, dimensions, features, and drivetrain to help you decide.
As of April 2025, the Skoda Kodiaq is available in India in two variants – Sportline and Selection L&K – priced at Rs 46.89 lakh and Rs 48.69 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.

In comparison, the Toyota Fortuner's pricing ranges from Rs 35.37 lakh to Rs 51.94 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variant.
The 2025 Skoda Kodiaq measures 4,758mm in length, 1,864mm in width, and 1,679mm in height, with a 2,791mm wheelbase.
In comparison, the Toyota Fortuner is both longer and taller, measuring 4,795mm and 1,835mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,745mm. Its width stands at 1,855mm. While the Fortuner offers greater ground clearance, the Kodiaq adopts a lower, more road-oriented stance.
The new Skoda Kodiaq’s interior showcases a clear leap forward in technology and comfort. Dominating the dashboard is a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, complemented by a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a head-up display that relays crucial information onto the windshield. Adding to user convenience is the Smart Dial interface – three rotary controllers beneath the screen offering intuitive access to various features. The SUV doesn’t skimp on luxury either, offering ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, tri-zone climate control, and ventilated, heated, massaging front seats. Sound is delivered through a premium 14-speaker Canton audio system.
In contrast, the Toyota Fortuner comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto but lacks a digital driver’s display, panoramic sunroof, and other premium features like leather upholstery in multiple tones, electronic parking brake, or a JBL audio setup. It uses front and rear cameras instead of a 360-degree system.
Powering the latest Kodiaq is an updated 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that outputs 201bhp and 320Nm – an increase of 14bhp from its predecessor. It is mated to a 7-speed DSG and sends power to all four wheels through an AWD system.
