Maruti Suzuki has issued a recall for 39,506 units of the Grand Vitara SUV over a faulty fuel gauge. The units recalled include the ones that were manufactured between December 9, 2024 and April 29, 2025. Maruti has stated that the fuel gauges of the affected vehicles might be defective, resulting in an inaccurate fuel level display and a broken low fuel warning indicator.
If your car was manufactured within the specified timeline, your Maruti Suzuki dealer should reach out to you in order to carry the necessary repairs or replacements. Alternatively, you can contact your nearest dealer or Maruti Suzuki’s customer care to check if your car’s affected. The repairs and/or replacements shall be carried out at no cost to the owners.

This isn’t the first time that the Grand Vitara has been recalled. Maruti has made three voluntary recalls for the SUV over the past three years, all pertaining to seatbelt and airbag-related issues.

Notably, Toyota hasn’t yet announced any similar recall for the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, which is essentially the same car as the Grand Vitara, with both models manufactured at the same plant in Karnataka.
In other news, Maruti Suzuki recently launched the Victoris compact SUV, which is a tweaked version of the Grand Vitara that is being retailed via the Arena network of dealerships.

All three SUVs — Grand Vitara, Hyryder, and Victoris — share the same set of powertrains. These include a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed AT, and a 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid engine paired with an e-CVT. The NA-petrol-manual powertrain is also available with the option of a factory-fitted CNG kit. You can also get select NA-petrol variants with an all-wheel drive setup.
