Auto Expo 2023: After much anticipation, Maruti Suzuki today unveiled its new SUV of the year, the Fronx. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx has taken the design cues from the Grand Vitara and the Baleno of the current generation. It sports a new mesh grille with a chrome strip, LED DRLs in the shape of eyebrows, and a huge bumper with headlights positioned above. With all of these components, the front fascia of the SUV resembles the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara except for the new alloy wheels, body cladding, roof rails, as well as side profile. The tail lamp cluster on the model is reminiscent of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. In terms of the interior, the car's cabin is almost identical to that of the outgoing Baleno with the exception of the Grand Vitara's burgundy-and-black upholstery scheme.

Under the hood, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx will have a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol BoosterJet engine that has a marked return from the Baleno RS but in a brand-new smart-hybrid form. It will offer 99bhp and 147Nm of torque. The engine is coupled to a paddle-shifted six-speed automatic transmission and a five-speed manual transmission. The 1.2-litre petrol engine from the Baleno will also be available which can produce a power output of 89bhp and 113Nm of torque. It will be paired with either a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed AMT.

A floating touchscreen infotainment system, a wireless charger, a flat-bottom steering wheel, a 360-degree camera, cruise control, six airbags, and other features are among those that have been added to the model.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is anticipated to cost Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. It will go on sale in April 2023 and thus will be sold through the Nexa outlets. The model reportedly will not have any direct rivals after its launch in India but it might serve as an alternative to the models like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the Tata Punch, and the Citroen C3.

The engine generates 103bhp and 130Nm of maximum torque with a manual transmission. The brand-new six-speed AT might be offered as an option by Maruti Suzuki.
