BMW is bringing excitement to motorsport with the new M2 Racing car. Based on the latest M2 coupe, this race-ready version will hit the track in 2026. Instead of the regular six-cylinder engine, it uses a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This change helps BMW offer a fast but more affordable car for private racing teams, making it easier for more teams to compete. The BMW M2 Racing has a light body, special racing suspension, and custom parts for better aerodynamics. These features help it performance on the track.

'With the BMW M2 Racing, we've succeeded in bringing an entry-level customer racing model to the track that combines driving pleasure, performance, and particularly intuitive handling," explained Bjorn Lellmann, Head of Customer Racing at BMW M Motorsport.

'The development was carried out in close collaboration between BMW M Motorsport and experts from series production. The result is a powerful race car that combines easy operation with low running costs. This efficiency makes the BMW M2 Racing particularly attractive for grassroots motorsport - and makes racing even more accessible for customers,' he added.

BMW M2 Racing: Engine and Transmission

The BMW M2 Racing features a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivering 304bhp and 420 Nm of torque. Built for private racing teams, this setup focuses on balance, agility, and durability rather than outright power, making it ideal for competitive track performance.

BMW M2 Racing: Interior

The BMW M2 Racing interior is designed for pure motorsport performance, featuring a Sabelt GT-AM racing seat, FIA-homologated roll cage, and fire extinguisher. A passenger seat is optional, while air-conditioning is standard, crucial for endurance races in hot conditions. Every element is focused on safety and track-ready function.
