BMW India has finally brought in something that feels a bit special for enthusiasts who still love the idea of roof-down motoring. The new BMW M440i Convertible, priced at Rs 1.09 crore (ex-showroom), is not just another luxury car launch. In a market packed with luxury SUVs and sedans, this feels like BMW reminding people that driving can still be about style, sound, and proper straight-six performance.

Sitting between the standard 4 Series and the full M4, this drop-top promises pace without going overboard, while also undercutting its closest rival, the Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet.
One look at the M440i Convertible and you get the point. The exterior profile carries a long-bonnet, low-slung stance with BMW’s signature kidney grille, sharp LED headlights, and slim taillights shaping its road presence.

Then there’s the soft-top, which is really what changes the whole vibe here. It opens or closes in 18 seconds and works at speeds of up to 50km/h. BMW is also offering multiple paint shades and roof finish options, giving buyers more room for personalisation.
Inside, BMW has kept things familiar. The luxury convertible gets a driver-focused cabin with a 14.9-inch curved display, a digital instrument cluster, and a flat-bottom M steering wheel. The front seats get electric adjustment and a memory function, while the rear seats are better suited for occasional use.

BMW has also equipped the M440i Convertible with a Harman Kardon sound system, wireless charging, a head-up display, climate control, ambient lighting, and tyre pressure monitoring, though boot space is limited due to the convertible layout.
Powering the BMW M440i Convertible is a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine that produces 369bhp and 500Nm of torque. It comes paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system, giving this convertible the performance credentials to match its M badge while also offering strong everyday usability.

BMW claims the M440i Convertible can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 4.9 seconds, which makes it seriously quick for an open-top grand tourer.
Rather than being an all-out track-focused machine like the M4, this one leans more towards fast highway runs, strong cross-country pace, and enjoying straight-six performance with the roof down.
