BYD appears to be preparing for a new addition to its EV portfolio in India, as a camouflaged electric SUV, believed to be the Atto 2, was recently spotted undergoing road tests. This marks the model’s first appearance on Indian roads and hints at a potential launch in the coming months. Positioned below the Atto 3 in the brand’s lineup, the Atto 2 is expected to rival upcoming compact EVs such as the Hyundai Creta EV, Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV, and Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara. Sold globally under names like Yuan Up and Yuan Pro, the Atto 2 is based on BYD’s e-platform 3.0 and is equipped with a 45.1kWh Blade battery and a motor that produces around 175bhp. It promises a real-world driving range of up to 400 km.
First revealed at the 2025 Brussels Motor Show, the Atto 2 is more compact than the Atto 3, measuring 4,310mm in length with a 2,620mm wheelbase. It is shorter by 145mm and narrower by 45mm, which gives it a more urban-friendly footprint. The exterior features connected LED taillights, a boxy silhouette with upright proportions, a raised rear spoiler, and angular design elements. A faux diffuser finished with silver accents adds to the sporty appeal at the back.

The heavily camouflaged test vehicle seen in India does not reveal much detail, but its overall proportions and lighting cues suggest it will closely resemble the international model. The Atto 2 is currently offered globally with a front-wheel-drive (FWD) layout and a single electric motor powered by the Blade battery. The standard variant delivers up to 380 km of range, while a long-range version is claimed to offer 402 km under NEDC standards.
Inside the cabin, the Atto 2 gets an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, leatherette upholstery, a crystal-style gear selector, a 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen infotainment unit, and wireless charging. Other equipment includes a panoramic sunroof as well as ventilated and power-adjustable front seats.
